Industrial powder made of Boron Nitride is a pure white ceramic material with an hexagonal crystal structure comparable to graphite. Boron nitride can withstand temperatures up to 2,000°C. And, depending on the grade, its dielectric strength can be close to 1000 volts/millimeter. Regarding optical applications, due to the strong hardness of the c-BN films and the high transmittance of the entire frequency range of ultraviolet(from about 200 nm)to far infrared, it is suitable as a surface coating for some optical components, and is especially suitable for coating of window materials like zinc selenide(ZnSe)and zinc sulfide(ZnS).In In addition, it is a good thermal shock resistance and hardness,and is expected to be an ideal window material for high-power devices and optical lasers.
